In aiming to design the configuration of small satellite serial formation, the relative motion model is built based on kinematic method. Considering the two cases that eccentricity is equal to zero and not, two kinematic models were analysed respectively. The semimajor axis and initial mean anomaly difference of reference satellite in relative motion model are simulated based on Matlab software, and the calculation results of kinematic model and accurate model are compared.The result show that the initial mean anomaly difference has larger influence on the model error of the formation, which is useful for the subsequent comprehensive configuration design of small satellite formation.
