Reasonable ratio of gas and air is a important measurement to ensure combustion efficiency for reheating furnace. The target of energy saving can be achieved by adjusting air-gas ratio according to combustion conditions. But for most of reheating furnace, only atmosphere in gas flue is detected, which is unable to reflect the combustion conditions in furnace. Rolling reheating furnace of a large-scale steel mill is transformed by adding online measurement and control system for atmosphere in reheating furnace, which can measure remaining oxygen and concentration of flue in different heating zones so as to realize online adjustment of excess air coefficient. At the same time, two modules of energy saving and loss of iron scale are developed which can be used for real-time estimation of energy saving and loss of iron scale. Operational result shows that online measurement and control system for combustion conditions can realize accurate control and reduction of gas consumption.
